Happy Tuesday folks! It’s been a minute since I’ve had the chance to post on here… My apologies!! Things were busy with work last week and this past weekend, I wasn’t feeling well (migraine and allergies, ugh) so I didn’t feel like doing anything but lounge around and play Animal crossing (anyone else been obsessed lately?!?)
A couple weeks ago, I shared a new foundation on my Instagram Stories that I had bought to try out after hearing great reviews about it and I wanted to try it out myself for a few weeks before hopping on here to give my honest thoughts and opinions about it. I had a lot of questions roll in after I posted it about what I thought, what kind of skin it’s good for, and how it held up against my other all time faves.
So I figured I would jump on here and write a post where I compared my top favorite foundations that have worked for me and that I’ve loved for my skin type!
So I guess I’ll start out by explaining what type of skin I have…. OILY. I always had oily/combination skin but over the past couple of years, my skin has turned just plain oily. I had so much trouble finding a foundation that I really loved and that lasted me all day, which was an important factor for me. I tried A LOT of different foundations that either “slid off” my face, left me feeling like an oil factory, or just made me feel like I was quite literally wearing a mask. Through trial and error, I finally found a few foundations I love and still use to this day and that have worked wonders for me and my oily skin. I switch back and forth with these three depending on the situation/what I’m doing that day.
So without further adieu, here are my top 3 picks for foundations for oily skin.
1. Estēe Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Liquid Makeup
Okay I’m starting out with this one because this is the one I’ve been using the longest. I’ve probably been wearing this makeup for about 6 or 7 years. I used to wear it in high school and college but stopped wearing it as an everyday makeup because it started to feel heavy on my face. I was living in Beaumont at the time where the climate is VERY humid so it felt like I honestly had a blanket covering my face and I just couldn’t stand it. So I stopped wearing it everyday and started wearing it more as a “going out” makeup since it does provide AMAZING coverage.
I ended up starting to wear it again when I moved to Houston and my oily skin problems really started to kick in. I’m not sure if it was because I started working so I was wearing makeup on my face for longer periods of time and every single day opposed to just occasionally. But nevertheless, after trying multiple kinds of foundations to try to combat my oily skin, this one seemed to really be the one I kept going back to. Now, I always have it in my makeup bag and it’s one I wear frequently when I want great coverage!
My Color: 3n1 Ivory Beige (I get this shade to match my self-tanner color.)
2. Estēe Lauder Double Wear Maximum Cover Camouflage Makeup for Face and Body SPF 15
This foundation is another one by Estee Lauder and while it’s still in the Double Wear family, it covers very differently. Where 1st Double Wear I shared above blends into your skin, this one is more like a sheet that covers it haha. It is VERY heavy and thick, but holy dang does it provide amazing coverage. There is NO oil that gets through this foundation, I could (and have) jump in a pool before with this makeup on my face and it does not move. It doesn’t even move when I get in the shower at night to wash it off until I use my face wash!
I actually use this currently in a much lighter shade as my concealer for under my eyes. It works THAT well with coverage! I use this if I have a photoshoot or a big event that I’m getting really fancied up for.
My Color: 3n1 Ivory Beige
3. it Cosmetics CC+ Cream Oil-Free Matte with SPF 40
Lastly, this is the new foundation I’ve been wearing for about 3 weeks now that I’ve been loving! Like I mentioned before, I got a lot of questions from people asking how I’ve been liking it and what the coverage is like so I’m excited to finally offer some insight into what my thoughts are about it.
Like I said, I really am loving it so far! It’s different than I thought it would be in that it is a very thick foundation. It blends in well with my skin and I like it better for everyday wear because I feel that it covers well, keeps oil at bay and I LOVEEEE that it provides SPF coverage. This was something I really wanted since we’re going into summer and summer in TX especially means LOTS of sun exposure. Again, this is VERY mattifying so I wouldn’t recommend it unless you have oily skin, but if you do, I’m telling you it’s GREAT! I’m really happy with it and I’m happy to add it into my foundation rotation going into this summer when I know my skin will be super oily with all of the heat and humidity.
My Color: Neutral Medium
