Maybe it’s just me, but I think a lipstick color can really alter the look of a person. I think it tells a lot more than what might first meet the eye. A deep, pigmented lipstick can give you a more intense look, as if you’re mysterious and have a million secrets hidden behind your lips. A light pink makes me think of bright, sunny days when you’re spending your time outside smiling and talking with friends as you soak up the rays. Light and dark, matte and shimmer, lipsticks and lip stains. There are so many different options and combinations you can paint on to give a whole different feel to your look!
Usually, I would have one or two lip colors to wear… normally a neutral and a pink. No matter what kind of outfit I wore or what kind of look I was going for, I would stick with these lip colors, simply because I didn’t want to have to go out and spend an hour in Sephora or Ulta, trying on different lip colors and textures and brands, putting them on, just to look at myself, wipe them off, and usually forget how they looked and have to put them on again. I get bored easily! However, going into this fall season, I made it a goal of mine to branch out and try new some new lip colors that would go with the fall season and I’m so glad I did! I have found so many lip colors that I like and that go with the fall fashion looks I’ve been creating. Like I said, I believe a lip color can really alter the look of a person, as well as be the finishing piece to tie together an outfit!
I’ve definitely tried out a lot and found a ton I’ve loved, but today I wanted to share my top 3 favorites I’ve found that have been my staple lippies this season. I’ve been using mostly liquid lipsticks lately since I find that they stay longer and I don’t have to reapply as often. The colors are also super rich, more so than regular lipsticks (in my opinion).
- First I’ll start out with this Powermatte Lip Pigment from Nars. If you keep up with my stories on Instagram (and Facebook now, I just recently linked the two!) you will have seen me posting about this lippy quite a bit lately! Jordan actually helped me pick this one out at Sephora when he went with me the other day (isn’t he just the greatest boyfriend?? 😍 *swoon*) and it has quickly become one of my favorites. I would say I use it at least 3-4 days out of the week, now that I’m wearing a lot of deep reds and browns for fall. The color is “Somebody to Love” and it just goes with so much! I love the way it makes my lips just completely POP!! If you are looking for a good darker, “deep” lip color for this fall, I would definitely recommend this one. Generally I like to use lip liners to keep everything looking sharp and to keep my lipstick from “bleeding,” but I honestly don’t find that I need to use a lipliner with this! The brush is pointed and the color goes on so smoothly that I haven’t needed to use a lip liner!
- This next color is a Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick by stila. I actually first tried this when I got it in my Ipsy box a few months ago. Since it was summertime and the color was a little too dark for what I usually wear in summer, I didn’t really use it at first, but now that fall is here, I find myself reaching for this lippy more and more! I realized just how much I loved it when just recently, I ran out of the sample tube I had been using, so I immediately ran down to Sephora and bought a tube! The color I use is “Portofino” which is a dusty-rose pink color (dusty-rose is one of my favorite colors in general so this lip color seriously is one of my all-time faves now!) It goes with a lot of the outfits I’ve been putting together this season and since the pinkish color is more subtle and darker than a bright pink, it really goes with the feel of fall fashion. I’ll use this along with my Matte Creme Lip Crayon by Bite Beauty. I use this more as a lip liner to outline my lips and then use the stila liquid lipstick to fill in my lips.
- Lastly, I decided to try another color from the stila line since I love that brand and their liquid lipsticks have served me well! This time, I tried another lip color in the Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick line in the color Fia. Since I wear a lot of browns and tans during fall, I wanted a good neutral lip to wear, but no matter which color I tried, they always seemed to look too “something” on me. Too dark, too light, too olive-y for my skintone, too many red/pink undertones for a neutral lipstick. Regardless of how many shades I tried on, I just couldn’t find one I liked. Which is exactly why I am SO happy I found this, because it is just perfect and looks perfect for when I am wearing neutral tones! I would definitely recommend this color if you are looking for a perfect brown color to wear this fall!
These are just a few fall lippies that work for me and that I have been using lately! I hope you guys like them and get the chance to try them out for yourself.
Happy fall friends! XX
