Hi lovelies and happy Tuesday! I hope everyone had a wonderful 4th of July weekend. I know we sure did! We got to go home and see most of our family (we weren’t able to see my mom, stepdad or grandparents due to social distancing reasons) but it was still a good trip overall filled with fun, family and FOOD!! I always love going to visit family and coming home because we get the HOOK UP with leftovers heehee.
So a couple weeks ago, I tried out a new heatless hairstyle on my Instastories that I think is perfect for the summertime and you guys LOVED it! I was also SUPER impressed with how it turned out and I think it goes without saying that I will be wearing my hair like this quite a bit during these summer months. So today, I thought I would get on here and do a little “how-to” post on how I achieved this easy, 5-minute, heatless hairstyle and what products I used to make the beach waves stay for days.
Also, please excuse our streaky mirror. You never notice how dirty a mirror is until you’re trying to shoot pics in it haha.
Step 1: Wash your hair & apply curling cream
Start out by washing your hair (your hair needs to be damp when you start this hairstyle!) then towel dry for a few minutes so that your hair is just damp. Next apply Not Your Mother’s Beach Babe Texturizing Cream to damp hair and let it air dry for about 10-15 minutes.
Step 3: Make 2 French-Braids
Part your hair where you normally do and start French-braiding each side, starting at your forehead and moving to the back of your head. You should end up with two French-braids, one of either side of your head. Secure each one with an elastic band (I normally like to use these small elastic bands since they don’t make a ton of creases in my hair at the ends, but you can also use regular ponytail holders).
Then the hard part is done! Next just go to sleep and leave them in your hair overnight. It really helps if you can sleep on a silk/satin pillowcase because it will a) cause less breakage of your hair in general and b) not cause your braids to get messed up and frizzy throughout the night. (I’ve slept on one for YEARS, I would highly recommend this if you don’t do this already!)
Step 4: Take down and apply texture spray & hair spray
In the morning, take down each braid and gently run your fingers through the waves to separate. Next take GSQ by Glamsquad Volumizing Texture Spray and spray at the roots of your hair and tousle to add volume and texture. This really helps add to the “beachy” look! (Check out my post 3 Ways to Add Extra Volume to Your Hair for even more ways to add some extra “umph!” to your ‘do!)
Lastly, spray your hair lightly with Dove Extra Hold Hairspray to ensure your waves will stay all day!
And you’re DONE!!! This hairstyle is SO flippin easy and it takes me no more than 5 minutes to achieve it. I normally keep the waves for 3-4 days, depending on when I feel like I need to wash my hair! For the days in between washing, I use Dove Dry Shampoo every night (use it at night instead of in the morning so you don’t have the white powder look in your hair during the day!) to soak up the oils in my hair and help keep my hair looking fresh for another day!
I hope you guys enjoyed this and if you try out this heatless hairstyle for yourself, tag me on Insta so I can see and share you to stories!! 🙂
Thanks for reading lovelies and until the next post, Xx.

You waves came out so cute! Whenever I sleep with braids its a huge frizzy mess. I’ll have to try it with these products.
What gorgeous results! I have naturally curly hair, but I’m really impressed with how well this turned out!

Your hair looks phenomenal. I wish I could get these kinds of curls with just braids! My hair just ends up looking frizzy, kinky, and frayed when I braid it. But yours looks absolutely amazing. Maybe I need to use the right products to try it out!
Looks great! May need to try for myself! xoxo, Sarah
I’ve been seeing more super cute heatless hair styles and I am HERE for them. Absolutely adorable, and I prefer heatless if I’m being honest.
I love this easy, effortless hair style! so cute!
Dove dry shampoo is a lifesaver! I use it all the time when I don’t want to wash my hair.
Wow your hair looks amazing!!! What a great idea to french braid!
