Don’t you just love date nights?? ♡ Getting dressed up, going out, taking pictures together to print out and hang around the house when you both are looking sharp and happy together? ♡
Date nights are so much fun, and I think every couple should try to incorporate a date night into their schedule at least a couple times a month. Now I that might be hard to do for a lot of couples who have tight schedules with work, family, trying to adult, etc. But I honestly think it’s important for couples to make sure they set aside time to be with just each other and talk with one another in a way that you can’t do when there are other people around. Taking the time to be together and give your full attention to your significant other is special and makes the two people (in my opinion at least) happier in the relationship.
Here are 5 ideas for things to do when you need a date night with your boo! 😘
Visit a Park & Walk Under the Stars
Okay go ahead, call me a romantic. Yes, I happen to love going to a park or a beach or somewhere nice at dusk or night time and walking around under the stars. When I was little, I used to be fascinated with astronomy. I would sit outside for hours at night on the driveway staring at constellations and learning to spot the different shapes in the sky. Now whenever I find myself walking under the stars and staring at the constellations, it reminds me of how little we are and how much of the world and the whole universe really is out there and getting to share that with the person I love is special to me and makes for a perfect date night activity.
Drinks, Dinner, & Dessert
Okay, so usually when Jordan and I go out to a restaurant and are finished eating, the waiter comes to our table and asks the inevitable… “Are we having dessert this evening?” We both look at each other, clutching our plump stomachs that are stuffed full and say “Oh I don’t think so, I couldn’t eat another bite!”
But let’s be real here. If someone brought over a dessert, even if we were stuffed and our pants were about to burst, I think I can safely say we would both WORK to finish that dessert (cause we ain’t quitters). 😉
So for this date idea, you go to 3 different places, one where you have drinks, one where you eat dinner, and one where you have dessert. You get to hop around to 3 different places together and get to experience different aspects at each! Plus, you go into the date knowing you’ll be having dessert, so that just makes the night that much better!
Arcade/Game Night
Maybe Jordan and I are just big kids, but we LOVE going to arcades and “Dave N’ Buster-like” places to have a fun-filled date night! Places like these are great because arcade games are so much fun, but I feel like once you reach a certain age, people never think to go there anymore. I think they are just so much fun and really bring out the kid in both of you. If you are tired of the usual “dinner and a movie” date night, I would definitely recommend this! Even if you think it’s a little silly, I think that’s kind of the point! Seeing your partner out there, having a blast and letting loose like they are a kid again is so fun in my opinion and every time we do this kind of date night, we always leave the place with a smile on our face. 🙂
Plus, I mean who would say no to kicking some butt in air hockey or skee ball?? Loser buys ice cream afterwards!!! 😏
Tour a Winery/Brewery
This is a great one to do on a weekend so you can spend your Saturday together enjoying drinks and doing something different! Do a quick Google search for a wine tour or a brewery near you and check to see how far in advance you need to plan it. I’ve always thought these are so interesting because you get to see how the wine/beer is made and the process that goes along with it. Plus the wine and beer included during the tour doesn’t hurt either! For these, it’s also fun to make it into a weekend get-away if you can, especially if there isn’t a winery or brewery near you!
If you’re in the SETX area, there are a few breweries in Houston like the Saint Arnold Brewing Company and the Karbach Brewing Co. both of which offer tours/events you can book! If wine is more your thing (wooh!) Houston has what is called the Texas Bluebonnet Wine Trail that covers 7 wineries around the Houston area over a 2-day period, if you’re looking to take a weekend get-away! They have themed months in February-April, July, October, and December each year if you are looking for a fun get-away where they serve themed appetizers and hors d’oeuvres at each winery! We are actually going to go to the one in October this year, so keep an eye out for my post about that to see how we like it!
Drive-In Movie
Alright, again yes hopeless romantic, but I don’t care!!! So what if I want to go back to the 70s when drive-ins were the popular movie outing and you got to sit with your boo and cuddle up together in a car with snack bar popcorn and junk food?! There’s nothing wrong with that at all, plus it makes for a unique date night other than just going to a movie theatre (which can also be fun too, don’t get me wrong!) But this kind of date is about the experience! It’s about going and having a fun night out together doing something different that you both can look back on and remember having a fun night together and acting like crazy teenagers in love again *swoon*.
Okay okay, sorry moving on. I know we have a drive-in here in Houston, but you can probably find one near you too if you aren’t in the Houston area! Just go to Google and type in “drive-in movie theater near me” and you should be able to find one near you if there is one! Grab your boombox, pull out your leather jackets, and head to the drive-in people!!! 😉
What do you think?? What is your favorite date-night outing for you and your boo? ♡
