The week of Thanksgiving is finally upon us! Let the holiday preparations BEGIN!!
This year, Jordan and I will be skipping in between a few different Thanksgiving feasts in order to visit our families together. (I’ve started preparing my stomach for the nonstop eating of meat, bread, and oh-so delicious desserts now.)ย I always love this time of year because I get to see all of my family together visiting, and it’s just such a wonderful and joyful time!
The other day, as Jordan and I were sitting down and visiting with my grandparents (mawmaw and pawpaw) about what all they had coming up for the holiday, she mentioned she would be making some of her pecan pie squares soon that she makes each year. I immediately began oo-ing and ah-ing as Jordan commented that he absolutely loves pecan pie (his family makes INSANELY GOOD pies, it’s incredible!!) Mawmaw mentioned that she used to make an entire pecan pie each year, however when Thanksgiving was over, only about half of the pie would be eaten. One year, she decided to try making pecan pie squares instead of an entire pecan pie and at the end of the evening, every last square was gone! Since then, she has been making pecan pie squares for Thanksgiving, because it’s easier for someone to grab a little square as they walk by in the kitchen, rather than get a plate, cut a piece of pie (that usually goes everywhere, let’s be honest. Pie is incredible, but messy!), and take a fork out to eat it.
Isn’t that crazy?!? But I’m telling you, it’s true! The ease of walking by and grabbing a quick pecan pie square is easier and more appealing (at least to my family!) than grabbing an entire piece of pie. Plus, I don’t normally want an entire piece of pie, so grabbing a little square (or a couple!) is just better for me. ๐
So I wanted to share the recipe for you guys in case you are looking for a new, easy pecan pie recipe to try for Thanksgiving this year! This recipe is courtesy of mawmaw, so you KNOW it’s good! ๐ Hope you guys enjoy!!
