Okay so I’m sure by now, you ALL know, but I just HAD to make it official here on the blog soooo… WE’RE ENGAGED!!!!!
I can’t tell you how special these last few days have been. Jordan and I are still reading through the hundreds of sweet comments and messages that are flooding in from all of you and we just want to say THANK YOU from the very bottom of our hearts. It has been a whirlwind so far and I would be lying if I said my head wasn’t still spinning just a little bit, but in the absolute BEST way possible!
I didn’t get to go into detail in my Instagram post once I announced our engagement, so I wanted to hop on here and give some details about how it all happened and what it was like leading up to it. I’ll start from the very beginning to give the full effect of the weekend…
Leading Up to The Big Moment…
Let me preface this by saying that Jordan and I had been talking about getting engaged this year and I knew he had bought my ring. So I knew it was going to happen at some point, I just didn’t know when, how or where haha. My best friend, Jamie, texted me earlier last week and asked if she could come into town to stay Friday night with us because she said she was going to surprise one of her other friends who lives nearby for her birthday. I honestly thought it was a little suspicious, but I knew her friend really did have a birthday that was coming up and she’s the type to want to go all out for her friends!
Saturday rolls around and the three of us decided to go to lunch before she left. Up until this point, I honestly thought she might just be pulling my leg and they were going to do something at the restaurant, after we left, at the house, etc. However, after we got back from lunch, she packed up her things, got into her car and left.
At this point, I was kinda bummed because I really thought it might happen this weekend. However, Jordan had said he wanted to take some new pictures for his Twitch account and Instagram, and asked if we could get a few new pics together while we were out. So, I got ready, threw on a new outfit and got ready to head out to the 360 Scenic Overlook Point.
On the way to the bridge, Jordan was honestly acting completely normal so I didn’t think anything out of the ordinary. We got to the bridge, parked and started walking up. We passed by a few open lookout spots, but Jordan kept walking on so I figured he was looking for a particular spot he wanted his photos taken. We came upon a big open lookout with no one around, so Jordan went over to one side, dropped his backpack and started looking for what I thought was his phone to take the pictures.
I actually started rambling along about a lizard I saw run across the outlook area (we now refer to him as the “proposalizard”) when I turned around and saw my best friend and Jordan’s best friend taking pictures and videoing. I was stunned and honestly a little confused since I had just seen Jamie get in her car and leave an hour before and Jordan’s best friend, Haris, actually lives in Georgia. Then I turned to Jordan and saw him down on one knee.
The Moment Of…
When I turned and saw Jordan down on one knee, I think my heart immediately tripled in beats. He said all of the sweet, wonderful things I’ve always imagined hearing when the love of my life proposes to me, held out the ring and asked me to marry him. I immediately said yes and rushed over as he picked me up and spun me around (TOTAL movie moment, am I right??)! When he put me down, he took the ring and slid it onto my extremely shaky finger (I was shaking so much I could hardly keep my hand still enough so he could put it on haha).
After that, our friends came up to hug us, congratulate us and take all of the pictures. My best friend, Jamie, is actually a photographer and has shot weddings and engagement pictures before, so she already knew all the right poses and pictures to take!
After that, we went back to our house to pop the champagne that Jordan had bought (and originally said it was to make mimosas for brunch haha) before getting cleaned up to go to dinner at my favorite restaurant, The Grove Wine Bar. We went, ate pizza, drank lots of wine and had an absolutely wonderful time before heading back to the house to all hang out together and talk before heading to bed that night.
Where We Are Now
The wedding prep has BEGUN!!! Well… sorta haha. Jamie actually surprised me with a trip to New York in August to go to Kleinfeld’s and look at wedding dresses with her and my mom, so we’ll be going to do that to get an idea of the style and type I want! Other than that, next on my to-do list is getting my bridesmaid proposal gifts ready so I can get my crew together! After that, I’m planning to move forward with all things PLANNING! If you know me, you know I’m kind of an organization and planning FREAK so I am so excited at the prospect of getting to plan this and get everything together.
It’s honestly such a surreal feeling. If we’re being completely honest, I’ve imagined this moment ever since I met Jordan (I called my entire family and told them all I had just met the man I was going to marry haha). I’ve dreamed of how it would happen over the past 5 years and I can honestly say, the real moment far exceeded any previous dreams or expectations I thought I had. When you see the person you love more than anything in the world kneeling in front of you, asking you to spend your life with them… there is no way to describe it. As extremely excited as I am to get to plan a wedding, pick out fun flowers and cakes and get to put together a fabulous night to celebrate our love with all of our friends and family, nothing beats the sheer feeling of getting to spend my life with the person I love. ♡
So there you have it! Thank you to everyone from the bottom of our hearts for all of the sweet comments, shares and DMs on Instagram and Facebook! We have been working on getting back to everyone because we want you all to know how much it means to share this with you guys and how much we appreciate the sweet wishes.
Thanks for taking the time to read this here and I can’t wait to continue to share all of the wedding things here for many months to come!!
