Goooood morning fabulous friends!! It’s such a beautiful day; the sun is out, birds are singing, and everything feels a little lighter and brighter…
Why you ask?
Well, because we are OFFICIALLY into the ber-months!!! SeptemBER, OctoBER, NovemBER, & DecemBER!
Autumn is here my friends, and with that, comes fall-scented candles, pumpkin spice everything, and FALL FASHION!
I love fall fashion. Autumn is my favorite season to dress for and update my wardrobe to make sure I have all the essentials I need to make all those cute fall outfits! Since I was going through my closet and starting to separate my summer clothes from fall and pulling my booties out of the closet, I figured I would share my ber-month closet essentials with you guys. These are all things that I make sure I have on hand for my fall wardrobe that I think are so cute for fall outfits and that help make it super easy to create a fall look. ♡
The Basics
Honestly, I probably have more basics in my closet than anything else. I love the fact that you can just throw an outfit together and wear different tops, bottoms, etc with so many different combinations to create a variety of outfits! During the fall season especially, I make it a point to stock up on my basics like solid color tops and jeans so that I can just throw on a different cardigan or scarf each time and have a completely different outfit! The basics I usually like to make sure I have in my closet include my black jeggings, my regular wash jeggings, white jeans, white tees, black tees, and a few tees of different colors (like plum, pumpkin, gray, etc… Fall colors!!) These are super easy to pair together and make a bunch of different outfits and since the outfit itself is simpler, I always like to really go crazy all out with accessorizing. 😍
Here are a few of my fave basics I wear year-round, but especially in the fall! For my tees, I like the ones that have a little front pocket to add something since the shirt is plain. For my jeans, I generally buy them from American Eagle since their jeggings are SO comfortable and I swear by them!
*Make sure to check out my post from Labor Day, “Wearing White After Labor Day” to see how to still wear white in a fashionable and tasteful way after Labor Day!*
Cozy Cardigans
Ahhhh cardigans ♡ The perfect layering piece for fall. You can dress up an outfit with a cardigan, make it look cute and casual, or throw one on for a comfy day lounging around the house, drinking coffee and binge-watching Friends re-runs (which is seriously the perfect day to me). Cardigans are definitely one of my ber-month closet essentials, because they go so well with my basics! Adding layers to my basic tees and jeans makes an outfit look so much better when I have a cute and cozy cardi wrapped around my shoulders. Plus they help keep you nice and warm in that crisp, autumn chill that we all love. 😍 I bought a few cardigans from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale this year, and I am SO glad I did! They have already been so convenient for me to just grab on my way out the door and throw on to add an extra layer of fashion to my outfits and spruce up a look.
*I also love wearing thinner cardigans in the summer over a crop top look, especially if I’m going out to a restaurant or something so a) I’m not so exposed and b) because I’m ALWAYS super cold at places and a cute, light cardi is perfect for taking the chill away.*
Signature Scarf
Okay I don’t know about you, but I think scarves are the perfect fall accessory. They can be used to dress up any plain, basic outfit (which, as you’ve probably guessed by now, are the backbones of my fall closet) and they are great for keeping you warm and cozy when the colder ber-months come (or if you’re in Texas, for when December and January come 😂)! I have a few different scarves I like to use to add finishing touches to my outfits. I honestly have had a couple of them forever, so I’m not really sure where I got them (I’ll find some similar ones and link those for you guys!) but I just bought two new ones this year (one during the NSale and the other after the NSale because it sold out during it, but I HAD to have it)! I love blanket scarves and infinity scarves, I think both scarf styles look so cute and they are just super easy for me to style. I’ve posted below some of the different ways I wear mine and with which outfits!
Boots & Booties
Boooooootieeessss!! I am SUCH a boots person (I share this obsession with my grandma *shoutout to Mawmaw* who has THE definition of a boot collection, and who also just happens to wear the same size as me 😏) so I am always looking for a cute new addition to my closet. I am a fan of all boots, short, medium, tall, doesn’t matter to me. I have them all and love them all! They are such great staples to wear in fall and winter and look so good with boots, skirts, dresses, etc. I am a HUUUUGE fan of booties in particular, so I have a ton of those, but I also love me some tall boots as well. This year during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, I REALLY wracked up on boots, so my boot selection this fall and winter is going to be so much better compared to last year!
I’ve linked a few of my favorites I personally have and can attest to as far as comfort, look and most importantly, quality are concerned. To me, when shopping for shoes, quality is the most important factor above all else. I don’t know about you, but I cannot stand to wear uncomfortable shoes. Now that doesn’t mean I haven’t before… Oh no, I used to buy the cheapest, but cutest shoes I could find (when I was 15 and trying to channel my inner Carrie Bradshaw, but on a budget) and although I did find lots of shoes that were inexpensive and looked cute, they were SO uncomfortable to wear for longer than it took to walk to my car.
Now, although still trying to channel my inner Carrie Bradshaw (and I always will be, because her style is fabulous) I try to purchase shoes that are of better quality and will last me longer (both for my feet and my wallet!) These boots are all ones that I have personally and that I have worn (and plan to wear, for my new NSale boots) during fall and winter! They are all super comfortable and would definitely qualify in my book as a fall closet essential.
