If you follow along with my Instagram stories, you will see that I tend to drink smoothies quite a few times a week. What can I say?! I love them! They’re fruity, delicious, and you can try a different kind everyday of the week. I love them in the morning as a quick breakfast, since I’m generally up at 5:15 getting ready for work, and as an easy snack after I finish a workout and need a little boost to get me through until it’s time for the next meal.
This smoothie is technically a “green smoothie” I guess, since it IS colored green, but the actual taste of the smoothie is… yep, that’s right… CHOCOLATE!!! Now, I don’t know about you, but I’ll eat/drink just about anything if it takes like chocolate. Not to mention the chocolate flavor comes from the chocolate protein powder I use so it REALLY helps as a post-workout snack! Needless to say, this smoothie is definitely a favorite of mine and is one that is healthy and helps refuel me and get me going again after I get a workout in. I also add in bananas for some extra taste (chocolate and bananas?! YUM!!) along with a few other things to help boost the nutritional value of this smoothie!
I start off with my Mainstays Personal Blender from Walmart; I use a personal one since it’s just me and I make one-person servings at a time, but I’m looking into getting a larger blender eventually. For right now though, this one work perfectly!
Peel a medium-sized, organic banana (I generally try to buy organic fruits and vegetables, if I can), break it into pieces and add it to the blender. Next add your chocolate protein powder (I use GNC Total Lean Meal Replacement Shake in either Swiss Chocolate or Rich Chocolate.)
I’ve used this kind forĀ years and absolutely love it! It’s a great protein powder to use if you’re wanting a more lean, toned look rather than bulking up.
Next, I add in spinach (that’s where the green color comes from!), chia seeds, Collagen Peptides (LOVE these!), almond milk and a few ice cubes before blending everything together.
*I’m actually looking to do a whole post soon about why I love using Collagen Peptides and the differences I’ve noticed since I’ve started using them (about 6 months ago).
BLEND, BLEND, BLEND!!
That’s it! You can either pour it into a glass, which I will normally do if I’m having it for breakfast or post-workout at the house, or you can snap on the Mainstays Personal Blender travel lid and take it on the go!
Hope you get to try yourself and enjoy!! Let me know what you think! Xx.
This looks delicious! Love the added spinach & bananaš¤ Definitely going to give this a try!
