If you’re into fashion, you’ve probably grownup hearing that you can’t wear white after Labor Day. I get it! I grew up hearing the exact same thing, and I have followed that rule my entire life so as not to appear as a “fashion faux pas” walking up and down the street.
However, this year something changed. As I found myself preparing my wardrobe for the fall season and beginning the process of stowing away my crop tops and sandals, replacing them with cardigans and knee-high boots, I found myself thinking there are so many cute outfits for fall I could put together than contain the color white.
White jeans with a plum colored top, paired with your favorite peep-toe booties and a light jacket or cardigan.
A white top, barely tucked in the front with a cute tan belt, black jeans, and a cappuccino-colored scarf.
A white felt hat, detailed with black accents and paired perfectly with a dark neutral outfit and white and gold accessories.
AHHHHH. You can see why I began to change my mind this year about the whole “no white after labor day” rule.
Now I’ve heard different things… Some people have told me you shouldn’t wear white at all after labor day. Others have told me it’s okay as long as it’s above the waist and not white pants or shoes. Some have completely gone the other direction and said, “To heck with that rule! It’s outdated and you should wear what you want, when you want to wear it.”
And that is exactly what I intend to do this year my friends. Which is why I wanted to put this post together to show you guys an idea for how to put together a fall outfit for after labor day, and still wear white in a fashionable way.
Am I a fashion faux pas? Maybe! But ya know what? I love fall looks like these and will keep wearing them all season long, regardless of some silly rule!
Hope you enjoyed, and happy fall friends! 🍂
