Happy Workday Wednesday friends! Thanks for visiting Chaos and Coffee today for the first ever Workday Wednesday blog post! I’m super excited to start sharing my workday attire with you guys on the blog so I have the chance to go into a bit more detail about where I go to shop for my business attire.
This Workday Wednesday, I wanted to share a few different ways to style a pair of navy blue slacks. I figured this would be helpful because let’s be honest, you aren’t just going to buy something to wear to work, wear it once with one outfit combo and never wear it again. You would have to buy a brand new outfit for every single day!! No, I definitely can’t do that. BUT you also don’t want to wear the same kind of outfit combination every single time you wear an article of clothing. Sooooo I figured I would take a pair of navy blue pants that were inexpensive and super affordable, and show you 3 different outfit combinations you can make with them. That way, instead of getting just one workday outfit from a pair of pants, you can get [at least] three!
We’ll start out with the pants. I bought these navy blue slacks from H&M (actual color on website is dark blue) for $29.99, back when I first got my job and had one pair of slacks that were acceptable to wear to an office. They fit perfectly, and have held up without any trouble at all every time I’ve washed them!
Navy with Neutrals
For this first outfit, I paired my navy blue slacks with a tan shell top that has a detailed lace overlay (I’ve linked similar tops!) that I’ve had for a while. I added the H&M matching navy blue blazer/jacket to give it the professional vibes. To finish off this outfit, I added a pair of tan pumps and my fave neutral-toned Calvin Klein bag (CK purses are almost always on sale at Macy’s! You can usually find one for under $100 and sometimes even as low as $50!)
This is one of my favorite go-to workday outfits because it is so easy to throw together when I’m running late in the mornings, (which is, admittedly, almost always) but it still looks chic and put-together. Not to mention the look of neutrals always gives off such a professional vibe. Plus if you wear a neutral outfit, you can have a lot of fun with the accessories! (Try adding a pop of color with a statement necklace or a bright lip color!)

Hot Pink & Pearls
Pink and Pearls. Girly and classy. I love it! First of all, I think pink is fabulous in the first place. However, when you pair it with pearls?!? Ahhh, so lovely! I think pearls are just so classy; every time I wear them I feel like I’m whisked back in time to channel my inner Audrey Hepburn.
This outfit combination is one that can be worn in the early spring months when we are getting out of the cooler weather, or in the cooler fall months, just by throwing over a navy blazer or cardigan to keep the chill away. The hot pink pairs perfectly with the navy blue and will give such a fun feel to your workday!
These hot pink heels are some of my favorite just because they are such a rich color and so darn comfortable! So if you’re looking for a new pair of heels that will POP, definitely make sure to check these out! 🙂

Pop of Maroon
So I wanted to do something a little different for this last workday outfit for how to style navy blue slacks. Two completely different colors – navy and maroon – thrown together to create something that is so stylish and pleasing to the eye! I think color combinations like this are the best because they’re different from the norm and they challenge you to step out of your comfort zone and try something that might be a little out there, but ends up looking fabulous. 🙂
For this outfit, I took a white button down I’ve had for a while from H&M, and paired it with one of my favorite fall sweaters. The sweater is also thin enough that it doesn’t make me super hot throughout the day when I layer it over the white button down. I left the top two buttons open on the button down, and just rolled up the sleeves so that the white was cuffed on the outside, over the maroon.
This is definitely one that would be perfect for the fall season, not just because of the maroon color (which IS a perfect color for fall!) but because it involves layering. While the sweater is thin enough to where it won’t make me hot in the office when layered over the button down, trust me, you don’t want to even consider layering in south east Texas if the weather isn’t going to be cool that day!
